On September 24, 2025, officers with AUS at the Nevada Department of Transportation in Las Vegas voted overwhelmingly to become part of the SPFPA family. 🎉 This win didn’t happen overnight—it started with one simple step: making contact and listening to unit leaders about their issues and concerns. From there, we built trust, launched the interest card campaign, and kept moving forward together.
This victory was truly a team effort:
✅ International President David Hickey kicked things off by hosting the first meet-and-greet.
✅ Vice President of Organizing & Communication Dwayne Phillips and Organizer Chuck Stroud worked side by side with the bargaining unit members, ensuring their voices were heard every step of the way.
✅ Despite the employer’s union-busting tactics, the unit stayed strong and united—and they won!
✅ Behind the scenes, Organizing Coordinator Julia Easterly kept everything running smoothly, handling the essential administrative duties that make campaigns like this possible.
