Region 1 Director Roman Gumul received a call from a Paragon Officer at the Department of Education in Washington, DC. Our organizing department started a campaign, and we worked with the site officers. The results were another overwhelming Team SPFPA Victory.
It is interesting to note that this unit was with a small start-up union, but they left the unit to fend for themselves. We have seen this occurring more frequently as a group of people gets together with the idea that, without any experience or resources, they can represent hardworking Security Police Professionals.

National Organizing Action Force Member Joey Leach (Local 603) has been working hard organizing units in his home state of Florida. Joey has led the way to a few victories in Florida.
However, this recent victory proved to be a real challenge. The unit works for Allied Universal Security, patrolling the cruise terminals operating at the Tampa Ports.
The proper unit size and work locations were the issue on the two petitions we filed. However, both petitions had to be withdrawn after we discovered that our information needed to be corrected.
Joey and team SPFPA continued the organizing effort. Finally, an election was held, and the Port of Tampa officers voted YES, SPFPA!
It’s another victory in the National Capital Region (NRC). This time the Officers working for Kerberos International at 1550 Crystal Drive in Arlington, VA, voted YES SPFPA!
We have numerous ongoing organizing campaigns in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, and we expect to win for all those bargaining unit members.
The Paragon Detention Officers at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility in Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas, voted YES to join our SPFPA family earlier this year. This campaign took longer than usual due to objections and a ballot error by the NLRB.
Our Local 725 members achieved the other Paragon victory we would like to highlight in this post at the El Paso, Texas Port of Entry, fended off a raid attempt by two small unions from Massachusetts and New York. Our members decided to continue building on the strong SPFPA foundation.
