SPFPA Officers Stop Potential Tragedy at CDC Campus
On Friday, August 8, 2025, Security Officers represented by the Security, Police and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) displayed exceptional vigilance and professionalism, preventing Patrick Joseph White from entering the CDC Campus and carrying out his deadly intentions.
Their keen attention to detail stopped White from gaining closer access to the campus and its workers. Instead, White moved across the street to the CVS parking lot, where he began shooting toward the campus.
The distance created by the officers’ quick action undoubtedly saved lives. Tragically, DeKalb County Police Officer David Rose—one of the first responders—was killed in the line of duty.
We honor Officer Rose’s sacrifice and extend our deepest condolences to his family, colleagues, and community. We also commend our SPFPA Security Officers whose courage and dedication protected countless lives that day.
